La Valle, the idyllic mountain meadow village, is an excellent hiking paradise. In 2015, La Valle received the European hiking seal of quality and thereby is the first certified hiking village of southern Tyrol. Maierhof was also certified as a company with the company mark of quality. Backpacks and hiking sticks are also rent to the guests at no charge and a practical hiking shoe dryer is available.
Directly from Maierhof, you can take nice hiking tours both in the summer as well as in the winter, for example the "Roda dles Viles" to the refined Gothic farmsteads of the La Valle hamlets with their flower windows and blooming gardens or a hike to Sass dla Crusc, which is among the nicest bike tours in the Dolomites. The rock walls which rise up vertically alternate white or red depending on the light conditions. A hiking excursion to the Fanes-Sennes-Braies natural park, part of the Unesco world heritage, is also an appealing attraction as well as a walk into the Nature Biotope of Rit and Armentara meadows with their rare orchids and over 60 types of birds.
In the wintery Dolomites landscape, an excursion by foot is an unforgettable experience. 30-kilometre hiking trails and 74-kilometre marked snowshoes hiking trails are just waiting to be explored.
